{"id":32,"date":"2020-04-20T22:16:22","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T22:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.guides4guides.org\/?page_id=32"},"modified":"2020-06-29T09:44:41","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T13:44:41","slug":"upcoming-events","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.guides4guides.org\/index.php\/upcoming-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Upcoming Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">BPSA Covid Update, Wednesday June 16, 2020<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With many areas re-opening and different levels of Covid risk across the country, please follow your local guidelines in deciding when and how your scouting in groups might resume.\u00a0 As a baseline, the CDC has helpful guidelines here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-life-coping\/activities.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-life-coping\/activities.html&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1593523140194000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFWSxF0QW-mniGoXv4I7s9j0EbiAA\">https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/<wbr \/>coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-<wbr \/>life-coping\/activities.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In addition to following local guidelines, please also consider different people&#8217;s risk comfort levels and the current strain on families &#8211; the other volunteers that help your group function.\u00a0 Asking folks to participate, whether in planning or even just showing up, may be a relief from isolation, but may also be a much larger burden than usual.\u00a0 In keeping with our pledge to inclusivity, please also make sure you are respecting different levels of risk and exposure tolerance within your group. This may manifest in greater vigilance in distancing, mask wearing, etc., offering alternate, on-line contact, meeting in much smaller groups, etc.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">BTCs are subject to very specific case-by-case need and availability.\u00a0 For new groups who have applied for charters, the National Training Committee and HQ are working on a plan so that they may begin their scout groups. For other BTC needs, please contact your Regional Commissioner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We also have an updated <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/12s1loTqPas1b9BSBTx2sp81FTGwrSwQqThfayd1v6-E\/edit\">Child Protection Policy<\/a> that includes guidelines for having on-line meetings and other &#8220;distance scouting&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\"><b>Youth Ethics and Protection Policy: Electronic Communications<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The BPSA-US national <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=12s1loTqPas1b9BSBTx2sp81FTGwrSwQqThfayd1v6-E\">Youth Ethics and Protection Policy<\/a> states that \u201cone-on-one contact between organizational leaders and youth is prohibited within the BPSA-US and the TPL [Two Person Leadership] practice must be followed without exception.\u201d In an effort to make the TPL policy explicit in our digital communications, BPSA-US has adopted this addendum.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"western\"><b>Electronic and Telephone Communications with Children<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Scouts use several forms of contact to communicate and connect, including telephone, email, text, computer chat, video, and all similar technology. In an effort to clarify these communications in the context of our Youth Ethics and Protection Policy, see the following guidelines.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\">Children Under age 12 (Otters, Timberwolves, and young Pathfinders)<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>No adult leader or adult scout shall communicate directly via email, text, or similar technology with any youth scout member.
